Is there any way to get a flat list of all the files in a project?

If you select the project icon in the project window and open the "Detail" tab, you'll see all the files in one long list.

Adding to Joar's advice: Once you have a list of files in the details pane, use the search field in the upper right corner to quickly narrow the list to what you're looking for.

The search field helps a lot. If you know the file name, enter that in the search field. Click the Project icon in the "Groups & Files" list, and you should see your file listed in the Details pane (maybe more than once??). Open the flippy triangle of the Project icon to reveal the list of top level groups. Arrow-key the cursor/selection down the list of groups. When you hit the group containing your file, it should be displayed in the Details pane. Then, open that Group and recurse down your nested groups.
