Installing Tiger?

All -

I'm an ADC Select member.

I'd like to install Tiger & Xcode v2 onto a firewire drive so that I can
(1) isolate the pre-release stuff away from my primary machines, and (2)
be able to take Tiger between my desktop & laptop.

BUT... in the past I've seen on MacFixIt people saying troublesome
things about installing the OS with FireWire in the loop.

Can I safely install Tiger on my FireWire drive?

Is there a mo' betta list to ask this question?
