local relocation entries in non-writable section?

I'm getting the following error when trying to link in a third-party object file with my bundle.

mylibfile.a(mylibfile.o) has local relocation entries in non-writable section (__TEXT,__text)

Does someone know why this happens and, more importantly, how can I fix the problem?
