It seems to be the same thing -- the GUI is still there, mind you, but the "Other Link Flags" that I pass (-ltiff) are no where to be found in the g++ command line generated by XCode...

I'd make sure that you are

a) setting the build setting on the active configuration
b) if you are setting this at the project level, make sure that the target is not overriding the build setting

Ahh... it seems like the target was indeed overriding the build settings. I hadn't thought to check there... Is there any "standard" about when the target should be modified and when the project should?

In general, settings that define a configuration (like "Optimization Level" or "Generate Debugging Symbols") and tend to be similar among targets should be defined at the project level. In addition, warning settings (or any settings that reflect policy across targets/ projects) should be set at the project level.

If possible, try to minimize build settings at the target level, only settings specific to the target (like the product name, for example) should be set there.

In a one target project, these distinctions aren't that interesting. However, if that one target project becomes a 10-target project, refactoring the settings can pay off substantially.

Scott

Thank you for bringing the "target" problem to my attention,

Andrew
