I read the book more carefully, and yes now I see this difference.

So, I'm going to move on, but we shall leave it to readers of the archives
at some future date to change their filename extension to .mm and see if the
shortcut syntax works!

And, yes Richard I realize that Xcode is a GUI around gcc.
