Deployment builds hang instead of crashing

Hi,

We have a problem where if our application crashes due to a null pointer or some such thing, instead of producing the "unexpectedly quit" dialog, it just hangs with the whirling fruit gum of doom. This only happens with deployment builds - development builds work fine. Any attempt to attach with gdb or get a stack trace with Sampler/ Shark/Spin Control etc. fails - requiring a reboot if we try attaching with gdb as gdb hangs as well and there's no way to get rid of the application windows..

Has anyone else seen this, or know how to stop it happening? - our beta-testers can't report produce crash reports when they get a problem making it hard to track down bugs.

Jerry
