build warnings - stumped

I've moved a project over from 10.3.x to 10.4 that uses some GNU source and now when I build, I get tons of the following warnings and I'd like to either correct them or suppress this warning.

pointer targets in passing argument 1 of 'strlen' differ in signedness

Anyone knowledgeable know how to solve this?
