Agreed, we wasted two days on this one as well. In addition, the heat
sink/fan had ripped itself off the motherboard during shipping and was
flopping around wildly in the box. We called DTS to ask for a
replacement and were told they'd call back w/in 48hours. That was, um,
about 3 weeks ago. I'm not holding my breath.
I wasted a day trying to acquire ANY display that would work with the
DTK. In my local area, there aren't any DVI-D monitors available;
everything had VGA. On a different issue, developer relations has
promised to have someone call me back at least four times now [rather
than the person on the phone just handling it themselves], and the
phone has yet to ring. Must be busy there? ;)
Sigh. At least now i have a pretty apple cinema display on my
desk...and
now I need one for home. Curse you apple! Why must you make such sexy
hardware!!?
As soon as I can enable ARD on the DTK (which I feel should have been
enabled by default!!!), I won't need to be hands-on with it anymore
and it can reside headless in the server room. But I succumbed to
the alure and ordered a 30" Apple Cinema Display, though I'm told the
DTK can't drive it at full resolution; it will work, but only at a
fractional size. Note to Apple suits: PLEASE release the G5 Quadra
3.x GHz 970-MP, so I can have a suitable machine to drive a pair of
those 30" beauties... :)
