Maybe the Xcode 2.x install wasn't tuned for the G5??? I've seen that
the gcc G5 instruction scheduling makes a really big difference in how
an app performs. Just a thought. ;-)

Of course I see everyone talking about the slow editor, I don't see
that either, but as I've said earlier, I'm also used to using

You won't believe this. I've installed Xcode 2.1 on a 1.25Mhz eMac
with 512Mb of RAM and it runs EVERYTHING faster than a G5 dual
1.8ghz in xcode - it's hard to be objective - but, I'd say it's about
50% quicker. Both 10.4.2. I had azureus in the background (A
monster java app with about 80 threads) and terminal, preview, mail
and safari. Its bizarre...possibly a 64bit/32bit implementation
library issue?
So, the suggestion of giving the dev team minis may not be such a
good idea after all!
