New xcodeproj file in Subversion SCM

Is there a trick to adding the new project file into a repository? Upon upgrading to Xcode 2.1, SCM for my local project worked fine. So I went ahead and added to new project file, leaving out my user.mode1 and user.pbxuser files. After checking out the new project on another machine, when I enable SCM I get the following uninformative error message:

'SCM could not go online. Could not reach host: :'

The host is indeed reachable, as I can manually upgraded the old project file on the second host and it too will work. This, of course, creates a conflict with the SCM copy of the project file, though.

Do I need to file a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
