Actually, now that you mention this, ADC members really pay that kind

Well, no they really don't. The tools are free. A lot of other stuff
ain't free, but the developer tools are. Whether a thousand bucks over
and above a Select or Premier membership is a reasonable price to pay
for some additional documentation and a loaner cpu is a question each
developer will have to decide for themselves.
Some of us are really betting our lunch on Mac developement, and Apple
asks a lot from us developers :-). I guess we can also ask some
changes here and there ;-)?
There's a big difference between asking for changes and whining that a
pretty good free tool isn't as good in every respect as some very
expensive commercial products. While Xcode definitely has room for
improvement (I don't disagree with most of Andy's criticisms; just his
tone) I haven't missed CodeWarrior at all since we shifted to Xcode
(and I really haven't missed its "upgrade" prices). In fairness,
CodeWarrior doesn't cost a grand (at least not the first time out), but
Metro/Moto evidently don't think they can make any money despite the
bundle of cash that they /do/ want.
