XCode 2.1: Why is gdb output going to console log, not XCode?

This is strange -- since moving painfully to XCode 2.1, I'm finding that when I debug my application in the usual way, the NSLog()'d output is to Console, not to XCode's built-in "pseudo terminal" (as the inspector for the executable calls it). I can't figure out any way to stop this. This seems to work with any project (e.g. a converted apple .xcode project), and yet I blew away my XCode preferences. Still, the log output goes to the console!

Any ideas?
