help with debugger, urgent!

I searched the archives, but I can't find the problem. All of a sudden, my variables and function stack disappeared from the debugger! the panes are there, but not the values! So, I trashed my .mode1 file, and the stack is back, but the variables aren't! I'm in the middle of some stuff here (as I'm sure you all appreciate) and all of a sudden I'm hamstrung! Please suggest solutions... I haven't changed any settings, and I've been using the debugger for weeks without a problem...
