1) Create a "Copy Files Build Phase" in your target that copies the bundle to the proper location

2) I haven't heard of the crash recently. Please file a bug on the crash, with instructions to reproduce and a test project (if possible)

One more question:
How do I change my bundle from myplugin.bundle to myplugin.iPhotoExporter at build time?

You'll need to set the "Wrapper Extension" build setting in your target to "iPhotoExporter".
