Check out sshkeychain. It will store your private keys in the keychain so GUI apps can use them. It may solve your problem.

CVS allows write access as it should while xcode can't even read..

I have renamed the key to id_dsa and id_dsa.pub...
Now cvs works perfectly.. while xcode doesn't request any password and returns the usual permission denied

Can you log in via command line to cvs? I had this problem as well
(just from the command line) and you HAVE to have your key name id_dsa
in your .ssh directory, otherwise CVS can't find it. You can't
specify it with a -i like you can with ssh. Maybe that will help?

I neeed to log with a DSA key. (it's sourceforge cvs)
I have no ~/.cvsroot file in the home folder.
I have changed the ssh key and now i can authenticate, but after the
login i get continuosly "Permission denied, please try again." and at
the third time it returns "Permission denied
(publickey,password,keyboard-interactive)"

If I recall correctly, I had this problem and traced it to a dodgy
entry in the file ~/.cvsroot. I think it was a leftover from a
previous installation of Fink. Might be worth checking..

well, that's obviously correctly set... but authentication fails immidiatly, without any network interaction ( cvs is set to /usr/bin/cvs )

- Open a project inspector
- Click on the general tab
- Click the 'Edit' button near the SCM System popup,
- Make sure 'Use ssh instead of rsh for external connections' is
checked
