If the header or footer are getting clipped, please file a bug. Include the printer model, and a description of the settings. It may be possible to work around the issue with different settings, so do please try. If you do find a workaround, that's info we'd like to hear too.

As far as text being too large by default, I completely agree. I print scaled at 70%. This is remembered between runs of Xcode. (I haven't had to change my settings for a couple of years, and I print from Xcode often.)

does xcode have some secret hidden printing preferences somewhere? I just printed a page of text (notes), and the footers with the date and page number are half-clipped off. Plus, the font is hideous and too big. Can I change this on a per-file or per-print job basis?

For what it's worth, I've NEVER printed a page in XCode without the

was fixed. Should we file bugs?

This exact issue was discussed at length with Project Builder. I just gave up on printing from PB and as a result have never even considered printing from XCode. I always open the required document with BBEdit, which does a very nice job.

As I recall there was some response from our Apple friends when the issue was being discussed. They generally expressed amazement that people were unhappy with printing, which they thought was perfectly OK. The rest of us found the fonts to be ridiculously large and ill-fitted to the page.

I can only assume that Xcode programming team have particular printer that interprets their preferred font in such a way as to look OK to the developers, and they have never looked at anyone else's printout.

I just did a test. My page is not clipped, so maybe I'm being unfair on the Xcode developers. It uses a much bigger font than I would like so it spread my code over too many pages. I'm sticking with BBEdit.

One thought on the clipping. Have you made the correct selection for US Letter or A4?
