I'm having trouble with definitions of template static data members
in GCC4. Here's a simple example:
template <class T>
class A
{
static T *x;
};
int *A<int>::x = 0;
GCC 3.3 accepts this, but GCC 4 says "error: too few
template-parameter-lists" on that last line. If there are two few,
what am I missing?
try:
template<> int *A<int>::x = 0;
Otherwise your code is invalid. From GCC 3.4.x onwards, GCC is more
compliant
to the C++ standard.
btw, you are using a template specialization.
You should also provide the template definition of the static member,
e.g.:
template <Class T>
T* A<T>::x = 0;
You may use a specialization, if you want to initialize the static
member with different values:
template<> short* A<short>::x = 1;
template<> unsigned int* A<unsigned int>::x = 2;
etc.
