If I look in the Style tab of project info window there isn't anything, so
that cannot be doing anything.


I know that value isn't being used, as I'm getting include failures, with
compiling and looking at extra build info panel, that info is not being
passed through.


You may be looking in the wrong Build Style. Make sure the one you're looking at in the Project inspector matches what you have set as the Active Build Style in the Project menu.
