Lost/missing main menu

I have a project in which for some reason the main menu got deleted in IB. I can create new menus by dragging them from the palette, but how do I associate the application's main menu bar with a specific menu in my IB project? The program runs fine, but it only shows one drop down with the application name on it, and I want to add other drop downs.
