This is my last post about this problem, which at long last I have
solved, though not understood.
I reiterate that this problem was real and repeatable. There was no
modification to the original project which would overcome it, and
recreating the project from scratch (new project file) exhibited the
same problem. Updating Xcode to 2.2 didn't solve it, nor did trashing
my prefs file.
Finally I turned to testing the build on another machine and the
project compiled without error, so based on the assumption that the
problem was something to do with my specific installation of Xcode, I
uninstalled my developer tools and re-installed them, with a repair-
disk-permissions, a trash-xcode-prefs, and two restarts thrown in for
kicks. When I thereupon attempted another compile, the problem was
not in evidence. My project compiled as expected.
So, advice for the list archives, if you run into some crazy random
problem with Xcode incorrectly creating its command line arguments,
and there is nothing else you can get to solve the bug, try running
the Developer/Tools/uninstall-devtools.pl script, then reinstall
everything from scratch. That worked for me.
peace,
thanks to Lance,
Nicholas
