symbol _crypt used from dynamic library

/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.3.9.sdk/usr/lib/libSystem.dylib(crypt.So)

not from earlier dynamic library

/usr/lib/libcrypto.0.9.dylib(fcrypt.o)

What's causing this and what can I do to correct it?

I use Xcode 2.1 under MacOS X 10.4.2 but target 10.2

and above.

It looks like you're using the 10.3.9 SDK but are manually including the libcrypto library from your 10.4 system as well.  Have you added libcrypto to your project?  What is its reference type?  (
