I tried to do that with AppleScript too
I have some initial template (empty project) that I populate using AppleScript
it is slow
from other hand I read on that list that developer shouldn't try to reverse engineering
because xcode format isn't stable at that time and could be changed even between .1 release
(so for example 2.2 may have some feature that 2.1 doesn't and some feature could be removed)
it's unfortunate but that's what we have right now

Tried that, too but it w a s   r e a l l y    s   l    o      w.
Looks like the XML should be a manageable route.
