I want to blame Apple here!
Really, i would appreciate it very much if Apple could get rid of these
b.d. names in AssertMacros.h!

When I suggested this at a feedback forum at the WWDC 2003 it seemed a lot of fellow developers agreed ;-). However, apparently I forgot to file YABR (Yet Another BugReport).

I've never seen a bug report on this (which doesn't necessarily mean one doesn't exist), so perhaps now would be a good time for you to file one?
