Build configurations and static libraries

  • Subject: Build configurations and static libraries

I have what is probably a very typical project that links to a few static libraries. I would much prefer to use build configurations for generating debug and release builds. The libraries have debug and release versions too and I really prefer these to be named differently - like the usual _d appended to the debug version. As long as I name debug and release versions the same I can make it work by configuring different library search paths for the 2 build configurations but it seems pretty ugly to have a specific file listed as part of the project when in reality another file with the same name may be used. Is there any way around this or will I have to create separate targets?

Carsten
