Thanks for that.

Adding CONFIGURATION_BUILD_DIR to my
Project Info Build settings and setting it to
$(SRCROOT) was exactly what I was after.

Set CONFIGURATION_BUILD_DIR to $(SYMROOT) in your project settings or
target settings. The next version of Xcode will have actual
documented build settings for this.
