Michael,
I found GCC 4.1 with a fortran compiler at:
http://hpc.sourceforge.net/
It installs itself in a different directory than the
gcc that xcode uses. (but just copying the fortran
files to the usual gcc location doesn't get xcode to
use the fortran compiler on fortran source files.)
