We have an Asante IntraCore 3524 switch between the machines, there
is a cisco router in the picture but it's just our internet gateway
and not in-between any machines. I have not eliminated networking
issues, but I am puzzled as other Bonjour based services (iChat &
iTunes Music Sharing) work without any hiccups.

Spiffy little app! Well, it appears that Bonjour Browser and XCode
both agree on what computers are showing up, when one drops from
xcode's distributable computers list it also drops from Bonjour
Browsers list.
