None of the ones I checked pointed to which function should be used to
replace them.

Are you referring to QuickDraw functions, perhaps? The whole of QuickDraw was deprecated as of 10.4. It is recommended to use CoreGraphics/HIToolbox where appropriate, IIRC.


Also, for some functions, there is a "Carbon Porting Notes" mentioning that
"This function is not implemented on Mac OS X." preceded by "Available in
CarbonLib 1.0 and later when running Mac OS 8.1 or later. Available in Mac
OS X version 10.0 and later.". How can it be available in Mac OS X but not
be implemented in OS X 10.4?

When I see this, my take is that these routines exist as stubs which do nothing under OSX. Do you have a specific example? (This Q may be more appropriate for the carbon-dev list.)
