1) When doing development you can control the build results folder

CONFIGURATION_BUILD_DIR to $(SYMROOT) at the target or project level.
Thank you. This worked. I had to create a custom setting named
CONFIGURATION_BUILD_DIR because it is not available through the
built-in settings user interface in Xcode 2.1, as far as I could tell.
For the benefit of others, here is my procedure for specifying the
directory where Xcode should create my application:
1. Display the project inspector for the target.
2. From the Configurations popup menu, select the Debug configuration.
3. From the Collection popup menu, select Build Locations.
4. For the Development Build Products Path setting, replace the
default value, "build", with the full POSIX path to the desired
output directory.
5. Change the Development Intermediates Path setting from the
default value, "$(SYMROOT)", to "build". This prevents Xcode from
storing some of its intermediate files in the desired output
directory.
6. Add a custom setting named CONFIGURATION_BUILD_DIR and set it to
the full path to the desired output directory.
Don't do this, set CONFIGURATION_BUILD_DIR at the project level to $
(SYMROOT). It will have the same effect and then you only need to
track the output directory in one place.
