Costs of Adding a Library

  • Subject: Costs of Adding a Library

When in a basically Cocoa application I add a single Carbon call (e.g. AHGotoPage) I have to add Carbon, framework to my Linked Frameworks.

(Aside: why not Other Frameworks? What is the difference anyway?)

What are the costs incurred by this?

The app increases in size by one load command (ca. 88 bytes) but what else? Does it start slower?
Does linking it (or prebinding) takes more time?

Or is the feeling "that it is a shame to add a whole library just for one call" just a sentimental prejudice ?

Kind regards,

Gerriet.
