/usr/i686-apple-darwin8/lib/ gcc problems from commandline

Hello,

After using Migration Assistant to copy my user information from my AluBook to my new MacBookPro, I am encountering similar problems as those discussed in the following post from February:

http://lists.apple.com/archives/xcode-users/2006/Feb/msg00500.html

dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/i686-apple-darwin8/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib
  Referenced from: /usr/bin/gcc
  Reason: image not found

While the fix suggested by this post works for my local building purposes, I didn't see any follow up to clarify if this is in fact a safe solution--i.e. make a symbolic link from /usr/i686-apple-darwin8/ lib/ to /usr/lib. Would it be better to link to the UB SDK files? XCode as run from the UI App version finds the appropriate files without problem, but xcodebuild executing from the shell.

I wasn't able to locate any other aspects of various preferences files or environment variables that would point gcc to the /usr/i686- apple-darwin8/lib/ directory, and reinstalling XCode didn't solve the problem either. Am a bit curious as to what precisely was changed by Migration Assistant and what any recommended procedures to fix the issue would be if not the manual symbolic link mentioned in the above post.

Thank you for your attention.

-Joshua
