Xcode Ownership?

Should I change the ownership of the Xcode files and directories to me, a user?

I noticed that everything in the Xcode_2.4.dmg package installed as owned by the system (root). Although I  am the technically the administrator, I've set-up a user account for myself that I use rather than acting as root all the time. I only plant to only use Xcode in with DarwinPorts and/or Fink. Maybe download some goodies from Freshmeat <http://osx.freshmeat.net/>.
