Thanks. On the Tiger installer disk, Graphite.framework is in:

/System/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz

at (as expected)

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Graphite.framework

(I looked at man pax to extract it, but bailed and just used Pacifist.)

Sampler now works fine.
