The Processor pref pane is too dumb. It doesn't save any pref file.
It determines the number of active cores when it is opened and then
asks again every time it updates the UI. If 2 checkboxes were on
when you opened the pref pane, then 2 cores were active.

somebody's technique for setting up a new machine results in CHUD
prefs for
a single-core and/or PPC getting copied onto a dual-core Intel???
