Well I went ahead and added -g to the Other C flags in the language options
to try to force the compiler to build a debuggable version and it's now
working.  I thought that was the point of all the GUI compiler/debug
settings in the build configuration.  Level of Debug Symbols was set to -g
and Generate Debug Symbols was enabled.
