My office 2x2 GHz PowerMac with 3.5 GB RAM:

G5, GCC 4.0
real 19m54.649s
user 20m5.317s
sys 12m40.522s

My new 2x2 GHz Intel iMac with 1 GB RAM:

Intel Core Duo, GCC 4.0
real 11m21.184s
user 13m25.323s
sys 5m18.156s

Surprisingly good!

I can get down to around the same compile times at the office, provided that I use distributed compilation to our build farm of 5 dual CPU Xserves:

G5, GCC 4.0, distcc
real 11m21.949s
user 7m4.027s
sys 8m37.538s
