And this is the general problem. There's a poorly optimized compiler using a poorly optimized parser compiling poorly optimized code on an OS that, due to an early design decision, has a poorly optimized method of calling functions (no $r2 and the reason -mdynamic-no-pic exists) running lots of poorly optimized cocoa code that's designed to be dynamic, not fast. They may all be minor by themselves but add them all up and they because a relatively huge speed hit.

But that's just my really, really short rant for now.
