Debugging so slow it's unusable

I added some files (~20) to my application and suddenly debugging is
massively slower. 2-3 minutes to launch the app under the debugger, from the
time the breakpoint is hit until the display updates it's about a minute.
But the worst part is that after a step or two, it displays an error about
timing out waiting for variable data, and will no longer step or resume.
Doesn't matter whether I use ZeroLink or not, I have 2GB in this 17" PB,
I've rebooted, I've cleaned the project. None of that has made a difference.
This is not a large project, ~250 source files.

Thoughts? I'm using XCode 2.2 and OS X 10.4.4.
