The fact is, M$FT has a lot of talented software developers in all areas
of their business. Even the defects in their widely-used OS aren't due
to lack of technical ability -- they are due to opportunistic management
decisions.
The issue with M$FT, as I see it, is their management and their
"values". Their executives have historically pursued a "take no
prisoners" approach to the rest of the industry. And they have never
hesitated to use marketing schemes that are illegal for a monopolist --
and which would be immoral and unethical even if they weren't a monopolist.
