Commonly, two different archives with the same contents are provided.
If you need the OS 9 compartability, you might want to consider
licensing 3-rd party installer utility like Vise or InstallerMaker.
XPostFacto is at least one app working as-is on MacOS 9 and Mac OS X.
On a dual-boot system, you can use the same binary when booted into
either OS. XPostFacto uses no installer and is mostly open source:
