Hi,
If you have ruled out the models, and you
have removed/re-installed the developer tools then I’d be thinking it
must be something else that is causing the trouble.
When you removed xcode did you also remove
all related preferences? What about any third party tools, or plugins?
Finally, can you remember installing or changing
anything between when you last saw it work and when you first saw it fail?

I am at my wits end with XCode in
this regard. Since yesterday XCode refuses to edit or browse a Core Data Model.
I have completely removed the Developer Tools (including all plugins and
preferences) and reinstalled, I have reinstalled both 2.2 and 2.2.1 without it
making any difference. I have checked that the models are OK because if I copy
them over to another machine they work just fine. When I click on a model in
XCode it goes away with the spinning ball of death and never returns.
Scratching around in Activity Viewer shows that XCode is not responding,
although the CPU usage goes up very high (on the order of 80 to 90%) but there
is nothing in any of the console, system or crash logs. I really do not want to
have to trash my hard disk and reinstall the OS, does anyone have any ideas.
The first thing to do is use the Sampler.app utility or the 'sample'
command line tool to take a sample of Xcode while it is spinning, and post the
sample here and/or file a bug at http://bugreporter.apple.com.
Only with a sample can we figure out what part of Xcode is hanging, and why.
