I wonder if it's removing this directory twice, thanks to the symbolic link? Is there a better way to handle this?

I believe that the problem is that the find command in this case is removing a directory that is in its list of directories to check. Once it is removed, the attempt to descend into that directory fails.


Following Nick's suggestion has the desired effect.
