Text macro specifications submenu

What do the 4 menu items in this menu used for? Is it possible to create a custom file that has my own text macros in it, and then invoke those macros with CodeSense? I found nothing in the Xcode docs and nothing in the archives about this submenu.

The macada.org distribution is based on the GCC 3 sources, which makes it difficult to integrate with C/C++ libraries and apps built with the GCC 4.x compiler. Adding the Fortran compiler would be most excellent too. I realize there are alternatives here too, like the HPC project on SourceForge, NAG, Absoft, and Intel. However, having the GCC f95 integrated into the standard Apple distribution would be extremely useful.
