Shark takes forever the first time after launching it

When I launch Shark and try to sample my application (no matter for how
long), it takes like 10 minutes until Shark opens the results window.
It displays the spinning progress bar, saying "Processing Samples" all
the time.

After that, I can sample like I'm used to while Shark is running (it
takes a couple of seconds, at most); if I quit Shark and launch it
again, it takes 10 minutes again.

I'm on a MacBook Pro, but a collegue also has this behaviour on a G4; on
a quad G5 it works fine though.

System version is 10.4.7, Xcode 2.3, Chud 4.3.3 (4).

Any ideas?
