Greetings everyone,
I'm getting some warnings in the Console every so often when
distributing builds around our network. (We're all up to Xcode 2.3,
mixed PPC/Intel environment).
The most frequent one looks like this:
2006-06-08 09:01:54.376 Xcode[18280] WARNING: Host
<XCDistributedBuildHost 0x141B660> host = QALab14.local.,
reachable=NO, BonjourName=QALab14, runningDistccd=NO, hasHostInfo=NO
already in set. Ignoring. (This appears even for computers that are
compatible with mine and show up as "Sharing" in the Xcode
Distributed Builds pref pane)
The less-frequent but perhaps more serious one:
2006-06-08 10:21:01.529 Xcode[18475] Warning: timed out fetching
distributed build system info for host: 10.1.2.102 (Right around the
time I get this, those computers become "Unreachable" in the pref
pane. They come back after a minute or two.)
One other thing that may be related:
Generally in my Build Results window it shows two files being built
for every computer I'm distributing to. When one file is done,
another takes its place. On my Intel machine, it always does that.
But on my PPC, often the files will disappear one-by-one until
there's only a single file left... Almost as if something is getting
stuck or timing out somewhere. Once that file is built, a fresh batch
of 14 or so files appears.
QUESTION: Is this normal, or does this indicate a config problem
somewhere? Of course we want to do whatever we can to speed up builds
(especially on the PPC side); if the warnings are trying to say
something I'd love to know what it is. :)
Thanks,
Jeff Nordquist
