Customizing Xcode for PHP development?

Hello,

I've gotten frustrated with many of the dedicated PHP IDEs out there, such as Zend Studio, Komodo Professional, PHPEclipse, and others. I'm wondering if the answer to my search for a new PHP IDE lies with Xcode 2.

I have been looking through the documentation this morning, and haven't found the answers to these questions, so I hope that someone on this list can help me a little.

- Can syntax coloring be modified?
Xcode will color PHP code, but it doesn't seem to do a particularly great job of doing so.

- Can the debugging process be modified?
There is an outstanding PHP debugging extension called Xdebug (xdebug.org) which has a debugging protocol for use with debugger UI communication here: http://www.xdebug.org/docs-dbgp.php

I would love to be able to find a way to plug some knowledge of Xdebug's DBGp into Xcode.

Have I zoomed too far off into dreamland, or are these things perhaps possible?

Thank you,
Clay
