I just got a MacBook Pro today and was in the process of testing everything out and found that XCode compiles MUCH slower than the same project on my old 1.67 ghz Powerbook. The Powerbook is more than 3 times faster than the MacBook Pro in side by side compilation of the same project. What could be causing this?

Your MacBook may be Spotlight indexing, it can take a few hours to complete if you've copied a lot of data to the new machine. This tends to slow everything to a crawl.
