The keyword is probably "Dashboard."  If you look at:

http://developer.apple.com/macosx/dashboard.html

there are a number of links at the bottom, that should include all you need to get started.

Hey THANKS!  I did not expect to get an answer so quickly - your help is much appreciated.  I dunno WHY they have no reference to 'widget' in the ADC search engine - but you have solved the problem as to where to get info.
