OK, thanks. As for the 1st part of my question, never mind. There was one tiny difference in the source on the 2 machines I was building with, and that one tiny difference made it skip the code I thought should have been executing that had all the printfs and SysBeep. Just another one of those stupid things that drives you nuts, wastes your time, and makes you feel like a big dope when you figure it out. :\
