Howdy Xcoders,
How do I view variables that are in the anonymous namespace?
I use C++ anonymous namespaces for many things (ie it's the modern
static). Unfortunately, I can't seem to work out how to view a viariable
in an anonymous namespace in Xcode (or gdb for that matter).
The gdb show variables command lists the variable as (anonymous
namespace)::the_variable. I tried print ::the_variable but get
Address of symbol "the_variable" is unknown.
On a related subject, I have a char* variable displayed in Xcode that
points to a null-terminated string of characters (do we remember
those :-). How do I edit it? I'd like to be able to change the
characters from the debugger to see how it affects the program (also in
this case, the string is incorrect, and I'd like to fix it without
having to restart).
Hi Duane,
Don't know about the first one, but for the related subject I think the
way to go is to use the Memory Browser tool (available on the
Debug|Tools submenu) and change it there.
